The Elementary Childhood Time Period

The elementary-aged child is normally between the ages of 6-11. Although with children now entering school at earlier ages, the child may enter school as early as 4 or 5 years of age.  There are many changes associated with that burst of learning and maturity that comes upon entering school.

The late childhood time period includes the "Middle School" years.  Those years can be particularly challenging for parents and their children.  It is also a challenge for the healthcare worker who is providing their care. There are so many changes going on in those years that children sometimes have difficulty making adjustments.
