General Test Taking Tips
The SAT takes practice and preparation! This is probably the reason you are taking this course. The best way to prepare for the SAT is to take practice tests. The more you can see the types of questions that will be asked, the better! Utilize the resources provided to you to take as many practice exams as possible.
Since points are not deducted for wrong answers on the redesigned SAT, it is to the advantage of the student to make an educated guess on every question. Don't skip questions!
Make sure you read the passages in their entirety. Answer all of the questions for that particular passage before moving on to another passage.
Here are some general tips to help you prepare for exam day:
- Relax the night before the test
- Rely on the strategies you have learned in SAT Prep
- Read the directions carefully
- Be familiar with the test structure
- Take multiple practice exams before test day
Test Day Reminders and Things to Bring:
- Admission ticket
- No. 2 Pencils
- Photo Identification
- An acceptable calculator
- Water and a snack (for your break)
What NOT to Bring:
- Cell phones
- Laptops
- Tablets
- iPods or mp3 players
- Cameras
- Any device capable of recording audio, photographic or video content
The goal of this course and the SAT is to not only prepare students for college, but to prepare them for postsecondary programs and life in general. The SAT is one of the major factors colleges review when considering a student for admission. It is necessary for students to be prepared for the SAT. Taking courses such as this one, as well as taking multiple practice exams, will give students a better chance to achieve the highest score possible. Please review the lesson material and all of the resources provided before moving on in the course.
