The SAT is a three-hour test with an optional 50-minute essay at the end. There are three major components: evidence-based reading and writing, math, and an optional essay. The reading section is 65 minutes long with approximately 52 questions. The writing and language section is 35 minutes long with approximately 44 questions. The math section consists of 58 questions; students will have 80 minutes to complete this portion. Lastly, there is one essay question, which will take 50 minutes.

The SAT will report a total score of the two major sections: math and evidence-based reading and writing. The SAT total score uses a scale ranging from 400-1600. Students can receive a score of 200-800 for each section. The scores for the essay will be reported separately and will not be factored into the overall score.

Students will receive a point for every correct response, but points will not be deducted for wrong answers.   It is beneficial for students to make an educated guess on all questions since points are not deducted.
