You just saw a great example of what a week looks like on a Healthy Eating Plan. This may or may not look like your diet. You are now going to assess your own diet, which will help you reflect on the changes that need to be made in your diet. You will enter your information to gain knowledge on what you should be eating in each food group. This is a 3 part assignment. Please allow at least 3-4 days to complete the entire assignment. Hint: Don't wait till the last minute because you will have to track your food intake for 1 day.

Part 1-

Visit Daily Food Plan Links to an external site. (produced by the US Department of Agriculture) and enter your information to create your own custom suggestions for eating. Then click on your suggested calories, download & save the pdf (as shown in the example below). Submit the MyPlate plan pdf for part 1 and move on to part 2

Part 2 -

Using the Daily Food Journal handout Links to an external site., record your consumption of food over a period of 1 day. Make sure to write down all foods and drinks that have calories. Even small pieces of candy. I recommend printing it out so you will have it with you at school or at home. Then input into the worksheet, save and submit your journal. Now proceed to Part 3.

Part 3 -

Using Gliffy, Chartgo, or another graphing tool, create a graph that compares what you ate (Food journal/Part 2) to the dietary guideline recommendations (Part 1). Submit your completed assignment, making sure all 3 parts are now submitted.
