(FPS) The Price of Going Organic Project

Option 1

With this project we will be comparing the cost of buying Organic v/s Non-Organic. You will be feeding a family of 4 for one week.

You will be provided with a list of items for the week (see below for handout).

You will need to research this at a grocery store that sells both items for accurate pricing. You will then answer a series of questions that will help you decide whether or not you believe in "going organic."

Option 2

Research the most local organic farm or CSA. You may call and ask questions, use local media resources or Internet to find out important information. You will need to find out the following information:

  1. Name and address of the establishment
  2. Date the farm started
  3. Mission statement
  4. What type of degrees or education the farmer holds (if any)
  5. How many employees work on the farm
  6. List 5 seasonal crops for each season
  7. List types of purchasing programs they offer
  8. List any education programs or community outreach programs they host
  9. Any other important information that makes this operation special
  10. Include one photo of the farm

After finding out this information, create a powerpoint presentation with all of the above information.
