Introduction
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young males and females in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns, including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career exploration. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life -- planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication -- necessary in the home and workplace.

- Benefits - an advantage or something you receive for being a member (leadership opportunities, public speaking skills, meeting new people, community service hours, travel opportunities, social events, graduation stole and cords, scholarships.
- Community service - voluntary work intended to help people in a particular area.
- Creed - a set of beliefs which guide actions.
- Dues - a fee or charge for membership in an organization.
- Emblem - a symbol or object which distinctively represents an organization.
- FCCLA - Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
- Leadership - the ability to guide or direct others, become an officer, head up a community service project, and influences others.
- Mission - the purpose of an organization.
- Motto - a short phrase which describes the beliefs or ideas which guide an organization (toward the horizon).
- Plan - plan to enhance your leadership skills and opportunities which generate more benefits to your future.
- State and national leadership meetings - large conventions in which FCCLA leaders attend leadership training workshops, compete in events, and meet lots of new people.
- Tagline - a catchphrase or slogan used in advertising.
