Respond to the discussion below. Answer all parts. Respond to two other students' responses.
All of us have stood on a scale to measure how many pounds we weigh. But what is the scale actually measuring? Do some research on the meaning of mass and weight, and also the units of mass and weight in both the Imperial System and the International System of Units. Answer the following questions in relation to a bathroom scale.
It is possible to buy a bathroom scale that converts back and forth between pounds and kilograms.
1. Do the two units measure the same thing? Explain.
2. Think about what you can do to change the value on a scale as you stand on it. What does a scale really measure?
3. What two units should a scale measure in to be consistent when converting between the Imperial and International Systems?
