Education is a massive and nebulous topic. Nonetheless, we are progressing under the premise that the action of teaching increases one's knowledge about the given concept. In order to examine the education process and better interpret the language of education, it is worthwhile to study the following two critical theories of modern education.
Please review the following video segments and presentations about Bloom's Taxonomy and Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development. Take note of the relationship between the notes and the key terms.
In the video below, teacher Peggy O'Donohue incorporates both Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Bloom's Taxonomy to differentiate her math instruction in fourth grade. Her students work on a measurement lesson in math centers. Note O'Donohue's attention to assessment and her evaluation of student performance and understanding inform her methods of teaching.

Recall and think about how the students in Peggy O'Donohue's 4th-grade class went about learning the concepts she introduced. Did the children in the video segment exhibit realization of ideas that most adults understand? What might account for a child's confusion about concepts that adults take for granted?
Watch the video below to explore this topic. This presentation gives a short explanation of Jean Piaget's exploration of how children learn.
