ABS - Acids and Bases Part 1 (Lesson)
Acids and Bases Part 1
Introduction
Acids and bases are an important topic in chemistry. Many chemical reactions can be explained as the interaction between an acid and a base. In this lesson we will learn to name acids and bases, and we will learn various properties of these types of substances.
Acids, Bases, and Solutions
In this segment of Chemistry Matters, our host introduces acids and bases, two types of solutions made of chemical compounds. In the classroom, the students and teacher investigate the properties of acids and bases and test household substances with cabbage juice to see if they are an acid or a base.

Name and Write Formulas for Acids and Bases Practice
Acids are formed by an anion combining with hydrogen. The anion combines with enough hydrogen to make a neutral compound. It is the anion that is important when deciding how to name an acid. Use the Ionic Charges Chart as a guide. Links to an external site. You may also use the ionic charges chart to find the ion names.
