In this module we will explore the topic of contemporary life. You will listen to and read a number of dialogues and conversations in French to enrich your French vocabulary. You will also learn about: 

  • identifying features of and describing cities,
  • the expression il y a,
  • review of contractions with à,
  • the verb aller,
  • making questions with est-ce que,
  • making questions using inversion,
  • the immediate future verb tense (futur proche),
  • talking about what we eat and where,
  • the numbers 21-2000,
  • money terms in France and other francophone countries,
  • regional customs and traditions in regards to food,
  • the imperative tense (commands),
  • accepting and declining invitations,
  • the modal verbs devoir, pouvoir and vouloir
  • the verb prendre, and
  • organizing a party, and
  • writing a dictée.

  • How do you describe contemporary life?
  • How do you describe a city?
  • What are traditional foods in your community?
  • What are traditional foods in francophone communities?
  • What importance does eating have in your community and in francophone communities?
