Glands

gland is an organ consisting of cells that secrete materials into other regions of the body. The body contains two types of glands: endocrine and exocrine. Review the differences between these glands in the learning object below.

Organs that produce hormones are called endocrine glands and form the endocrine system. The endocrine system also includes organs such as the brain and kidneys that produce hormones, but are not considered glands.
