PT - Pulling it All Together (Lesson)
Pulling it All Together
The concepts you have applied throughout this course all build upon one another and are used in conjunction to make art. Artists use the elements of art and principles of design in combination to create drawings, paintings, sculpture, prints, computer-generated and commercial art just like you have in this course. This final module will require you to pull together everything you have learned to create and illustrate a Star Book. The Star Book is a sculpture in itself, and you will paint and draw inside the book to illustrate your answer to the question we started with, "What is Art?" In each of the seven sections, you will illustrate your answer through a different element of art.
Book Arts
We don't always think of a book as being a piece of art. Books are functional and typically we are concentrating on the printed word inside it rather than its construction. In this lesson, we will walk through the history of bookmaking where this art form began. Books are mass-produced now but there was a time when every book was considered precious as they were individually made and printed by hand.
Please watch the Book arts presentation and take notes in your visual verbal journal.
Exhibiting Artwork
Where and how do artists show their work? Some artists exhibit work in galleries and museums, others in coffee shops and public spaces. Other artists may only sell their work commercially. Regardless, all artists maintain a portfolio of the artwork and an artist statement.
Careers in Visual and Media Art
Can you name some careers in visual and media art? Did fashion designer, architect, graphic designer, web designer, or painter come to mind? Careers in visual art have expanded in recent years to include product designers, web design, animators, and graphic artists while also including traditional careers like painter, illustrator, printmaker, and sculptor. In Georgia, there are many jobs related to the film industry that also are visual and media arts like costume designer, set designer, and props designer.
