Functions of Art

Art is a form of visual communication and artwork is the visual expression of an idea created with skill. Artists can communicate ideas and emotion through their artworks without the use of written word or a particular language. Art, like a world language, can be learned through practice and extended study and is not a special talent that you have to be born with in order to be successful. What inspires artists to create can be personal, social, spiritual, physical, or educational.  As an artist, you must learn to perceive an object and become deeply aware through all 5 senses of its nature in order to transcend it, change it or create art with it.
