Psychosexual Development
Freud is probably the most recognizable name in psychology, and he had a lot of opinions about human development. In Freud's mind, every person, even the smallest child, has a libido, which is an instinctual sexual energy. According to Freud's theory, libido travels to different parts of the body during human development, ideally ending up in the place we typically think of as the center of human sexual desire: the genitals. Freud's theory includes possible variations on this final destination. He theorized that if a person experienced problems during one period, the person might develop a fixation in that stage and never move on.
