The Writing Process (Review)

You may have seen this information before. But understanding this information is crucial to your success in writing, so let's take another look.

Writing Process Review

Recall that there are several steps in the Writing Process that help writers create the best possible final essay. that appear in what scholars now call the Writing Process allows the writer to take a piece of writing and look at various areas to make changes and create a final draft for a specific audience. Review the five commonly referred to steps in the Writing Process:

1. Prewriting 
2. Drafting
3. Revising
4. Editing/Proofreeding
5. Publishing

The Writing Process

Once you have a topic for any essay you will write, you will begin the Writing Process. Recall that there are requirements and expectations for each stage of the Writing Process. View the video below to review how to complete the Prewriting Stage of the Writing Process:

After reviewing the proper way to create a thesis statement, you will have the opportunity to practice writing your own thesis statements.

The Brainstorm

Once you have received feedback on your thesis statements, you are ready to begin a brainstorm! Review the video below on completing a brainstorm before you begin writing:

Remember that the purpose of the brainstorm is to make sure that all of your ideas relate to the topic sentences and the thesis. In this way, you can make sure that you have organization before you actually write your paragraphs.
