FNS - Characterizing Characters Lesson

Characterizing Characters

The point of view is an important part of understanding the narrator and the story as a whole. The point of view is the perspective from which a story is told, and the author chooses how a reader will see the plot unfolding by choosing a specific point of view.

Let's take a look at the different types of points of views below:

First Person Point of View: The narrator is a character in the story and refers to himself or herself as "I"

Third Person Limited Point of View: The narrator reveals the thoughts of only one character and refers to that character as "he" or "she"

Third Person Omniscient Point of View: The narrator knows everything about the story's events and reveals the thoughts of all characters.
