The center of this circle, called the circumcenter, is equidistant from each vertex of the triangle.

Steps for Constructing a Circle Circumscribed about a Triangle

  1. Start with any triangle.
  2. Construct the perpendicular bisector of one side.
  3. Construct the perpendicular bisector of another side.
  4. Label the point of intersection.
  5. Place the pointed end of the compass on the point of intersection, and open the compass to reach one of the vertices of the triangle. Construct a circle using this as the radius.
  6. The circle you have constructed is the circumscribed circle about the triangle. The center of this circle is called the circumcenter and is equidistant from each of the vertices of the triangle.
