Constructing an Inscribed Circle of a Triangle
Now we will learn how to construct the inscribed circle of a triangle; the center of this circle is called the incenter of the triangle, and the circle is tangent to each side of the triangle:
Steps for Constructing a Circle Inscribed in a Triangle
- Start with any triangle.
- Construct the angle bisector for any angle.
- Construct the angle bisector for another angle.
- Label the point of intersection.
- Place the pointed end of the compass on the point of intersection.
- Open the compass to the shortest distance between the point of intersection and any side of the triangle.
- Construct the circle – this is the inscribed circle, whose center is the incenter of this triangle. It is tangent to each side of the triangle.
