Lesson 24: How Do We Solve Numerical and Algebraic Expressions?

Introduction

In this lesson, you will learn specific mathematical vocabulary that will help to write and solve numerical and algebraic expressions. 

Yesterday, we finished our journey through Hogwarts and learned how to write and simplify expressions and equations.  Today, we will dive deeper into specific vocabulary that will help us to write and solve not only numerical expressions but algebraic expressions as well.

Warm Up

Before we start, let’s wake up our brains by evaluating the expression below in your journal:

(32-12) ÷ 5 + 6^2
