PBU - The President and the Media Lesson
The President and the Media
The White House uses the Media in various capacities. Learn more in the chart below.
When a member of the White House leaks a story to the media to gage public reaction to a policy or action the President is considering. If the policy or action is considered positive, the President will probably proceed with his idea. If the policy or action is considered negative, the President will deny such a policy exists.
This type of presentation can be addressed to the nation and is usually seen as more personal.
Occasionally the President will answer media questions directly. The President will usually call on the reporters they want to ask questions by name. There are very seldom follow-up questions to indirect answers.
Traditionally, the President will address the people on the "state of the union" before a joint session of Congress in late January.
The President will occasionally greet foreign leaders, sign bills, or hold a press conference outside the Oval Office in a beautiful setting. |
