TUC - Special Right Triangles Lesson

Math_Lesson_TopBanner.png Special Right Triangles

Recall from Geometry that there are certain right triangles that follow special patterns!

SPECIAL RIGHT TRIANGLES

45° - 45° - 90°

30° - 60° - 90°

image of triangle with sides labeled x, x, and x to the sq rt of 2 with two 45° angles and one 90° angle

triangle with sides labeled x, 2x, and x to the sq rt of 3, and angles that are 30°, 60°, and 90°

Recall: Rationalizing the Denominator

When a radical is left in the denominator you must rationalize!

Example: LaTeX: \frac{5}{\sqrt[]{2}}:\frac{5}{\sqrt[]{2}}\left(\frac{\sqrt[]{2}}{\sqrt[]{2}}\right)=\frac{5\sqrt[]{2}}{2}52:52(22)=522
