PRIN - Progressive Reforms, Imperialism, Nationalism, and WWI Module Overview

Progressive Reforms, Imperialism, Nationalism, and WWI

Introduction

An examination into early 19th Century America.
American's connection to the less fortunate led to numerous reforms. Furthermore, legislation was introduced to provide more power to the individual. However, not all Americans found equality. African-Americans and other minorities faced discrimination in the workplace, in new cities, and in the military. Women who fought for other Americans' rights and well-being engaged in efforts to provide for their own rights. Tensions with Spain resulted in the expansion of American imperialism and nationalism during and after the Spanish-American War. Finally, the United States' attempt to remain neutral during the conflict in Europe could not overcome German aggression and American relationships with Allied nations - and ultimately dragged the United States into World War I.
