What is Geography
Before we study geography, we need to understand what it is. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own working definition of “geography.”
Guide Point 🧭
What is Geography?
Why are bananas grown in Guatemala? It seems like an odd question, right? But the answer to this question, and to many other questions about why things are the way they are around the world is often... geography. Obviously, the answer is more in-depth than that, but it is true. Remember those two huge questions? Why there and why care? So, why are bananas grown in Guatemala? Well, it has to do with several geographic factors. Speaking of bananas, which grow on trees, there are two main branches of geography – physical geography and human geography. Physical geography deals with the landforms and bodies of water on Earth, whereas human geography concerns the activity and interactions of people with the surrounding environment. More on that in the next lesson.
