Latin Composition Review
In each module, we're going to finish our review by practicing our composition skills. One of the best ways to do this is to answer questions that are written in Latin. Why, you may ask, would this be a handy way to practice composition? Think about a question, and then how you answer it, normally, in English - you take elements of the question and include them in your response. How old was Ovid? Ovid was XYZ. The same should apply when approaching Latin questions - find the elements that need to be regenerated, then fill in any additional information. A small word bank has also been included below the questions to assist with any missing vocabulary.
Example:
- Quo Ovidius natus est?
- Ovidius extra Romam natus est.
- You could choose to be more specific, like by saying "90 miles outside of" - but that would require a bit more advanced composition that we haven't covered - "keep it simple" is the rule for now.
Try to answer the following questions, in complete sentences in Latin, on your own. Then complete the practice activity to check your answers.
- Quod est nomen puellae in fabula?
- Quod est nomen puero in fabula?
- Quod est nomen urbi in fabula?
- Quid Pyramum a Thisbe separavit?
- Per quid amores communicaverunt?
- Quid amores deserentes basiaverunt?
- Quo amores convenire destinaverunt?
- Ab quo Thisbe effugit?
- Qui amor prius se interfecit?
- Cuius gladius Thisben interfecit?
