Today’s workplace looks and functions very differently than it did just a few short years ago. Collaboration and communication are essential skills for every professional, especially in the digital workplace. It is commonplace to find individuals within the same company working remotely, collaborating with colleagues across multiple time zones, and creating presentations and other digital resources to share with colleagues and customers. Types of Communication Technology

💻Email – very popular form of communication. Email usually arrives within seconds. Can be used to communicate with both colleagues and customers.

💻 Video conferencing – usually involves both audio and video. Video conferencing can also include other elements like screen-sharing, polls, and breakout rooms.

💻Online chatting – a form of instant communication. Instant messaging can be used to chat with colleagues, customers, and friends. It is usually used as a more casual method of communicating than email.

💻Texting – allows individuals to send brief messages using smartphones. Text messages are a very popular form of informal communication.

💻Blogs – are websites that can be used to share content for others to read. Individuals can have personal blogs to share information about their hobbies or interests. Companies can have blogs for publicity reasons and to help grow their brand.

💻Forums – are online sites where individuals can post questions and respond to questions posted by others. The topics, questions, and conversations are organized and users can research specific topics.

💻Listserv – a way to communicate with multiple people using email. One email can be composed and then sent out to groups of individuals. Individuals can communicate with others who have a shared goal or common interest. Companies can use listserv to communicate with customers.
