Reflection
Delivering an effective presentation is about more than just the content of the presentation. An effective presentation is well planned and considers the intended audience. The audience understands the flow of the presentation because it follows a logical flow of information which includes an introduction, body, and conclusion. The audience does not feel overwhelmed or bored, but instead feels connected and engaged to the presenter and the information being presented. The speaker is comfortable presenting because he has rehearsed the presentation and knows the presentation topic inside and out. He also knows how to read the audience and can pivot his presentation to include a joke, a question, or even incorporate a break if needed. Lastly, an effective presentation always ends on a high leaving the audience feeling inspired and ready to take action.
Can you think of a presenter or a presentation that had an impact on you? What was the presentation about or how did the speaker connect with you? Reflect on the elements of that presentation or speaker and make an effort to mimic those elements the next time you create and deliver a presentation.
