CYF - Capstone Project Proposal (Lesson)

Capstone Project Proposal

A Capstone Project is an Inquiry-Based Student Interest, multi-step Project-Based Learning, or Real-World Solution Project.  It will give you an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge you will learn in this course to a real-life situation.

Your course will have one Capstone project, with several checkpoints. The final product will be due at least two weeks before the end of the course. See the instructions below for the Capstone project and pay close attention throughout the course to each checkpoint.

Capstone Project Part 1:  Project Proposal

The purpose of this assignment will be to give you an opportunity to evaluate a company of your choice and apply cybersecurity various skills and knowledge learned in the course. You will act as a consultant who has been asked to provide the status of the organization to the management team.

Managers are busy people, so it is important that your report is concisely written and free from speculation and drama, only the facts. You must use APA style for your references. References should be reputable publications and cannot be older than five years.

The driving question of this project is: Given what you have learned in the course and company analysis of data, what recommendations would you provide to the company regarding cybersecurity enhancement?

Your first assignment will be to identify the company you will analyze and submit the company name and a brief description.

  • What are some companies you may consider for your capstone project?

Capstone Project Part 2: Research and Learning

The next step will be to research industry standards and company information to support an answer to the probing question. You will analyze the cybersecurity strengths and weaknesses of your chosen company, using skills and knowledge used in the course.

You will submit 5-10 pieces of evidence from your research to complete this task. Be sure to use key concepts and skills learned in each module. Submit your research and initial reflections when completed.

Capstone Project Part 3: Project Showcase Planning Proposal

You will create an outline/rough draft of recommendations you will submit to the company management for your capstone.  Make sure to include all major components of cybersecurity analysis as well as how you plan to present that information. Submit your outline/draft when completed.

Capstone Project Part 4: Produce a Project Showcase

You will produce a Project to Showcase: Your product could be a business report or presentation. Submit your project to the showcase dropbox when completed.

Capstone Project Part 5: Share and Reflect

You will share your project and reflect on the components of your project on the discussion board. You will also critique two of your classmates’ submissions.
