SICS- Computing and Innovations in Other Fields Lesson
Computing and Innovations in Other Fields
Computing enables innovation in nearly every field. Computing enables innovation by providing access to and sharing of information. Open access and Creative Commons have enabled broad access to digital information. Open and benefited scientific researchers have enabled innovations in medicine, business, and science.
In the field of biology, the sequencing of the human genome would not have been possible without computers to process and analyze massive amounts of genetic data. Today, genetics and many related sub-fields of biology rely heavily on computational methods.
A wireless sensor network (WSN) sometimes called a wireless sensor and actor network (WSAN) are spatially distributed autonomous sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, pressure, etc., and to cooperatively pass their data through the network to a main location. These are being used to monitor our oceans, forest, farms, and rivers to understand how to preserve our natural resources.
You will find computer innovations in all of the following fields.
