LES: Overview

A group of students demonstrate engagement. Some raise hands while others pay attention.La escuela y el sálon - Overview

You are studying this module because you are in school, en la escuela. In this unit, you will be learning vocabulary and grammar to talk about school, la escuela, and your studies, los estudios.

Introducción (Introduction)

One important thing you will notice in this unit is that you will discover many cognates. The proper definition of cognate is reserved for words that exist in two different languages and have the same root or origin. Since Spanish and English both have Latin roots there are heaps of words that are the same or very close in both languages. When you identify these cognates, you will realize that you already know many words and expressions we will learn in this module and course.

Watch this one-minute video on Cognates before you begin your studies. You will realize that understanding cognates will help you remember Spanish vocabulary and expressions.
