KAR - Kinetics and Rates Module Overview
Kinetics and Rates
This module focuses on the study of reaction rates, also known as chemical kinetics. It contains topics such as collision theory, reaction rates, and rate laws. You will learn how to calculate rate laws from experimental data, concentration and time, and half-life of a reaction as well as different types of catalysts and their effect on activation energy.
What affects the speed of chemical reactions? How can it be that some reactions are seemingly instantaneous, while others take years, even decades to occur? Understanding the speed of reactions, what contributes to the speed, and being able to control that speed allows chemists the ability to transform the world through increased production of beneficial reactions and decreasing or slowing harmful reactions.
