SP - Social Psychology and Personality Module Overview
Module Overview
Introduction
Social psychology explores the intricate ways in which our behavior and thoughts are influenced by others and the environment. Have you ever noticed how someone may act differently when alone compared to when in a group? This can be attributed to various factors such as expectations, biases, and attitudes. Our relationships with ourselves and others are significantly impacted by these elements. Additionally, have you ever questioned why you do what you do? Is your motivation driven by personal choices or the desire for external validation and rewards? These are fundamental questions that social psychology and personality theories aim to unravel. By examining these concepts, you will gain insight into your behaviors and reactions and develop a deeper understanding of the diverse personalities you encounter in everyday life. Through this exploration, you will uncover key factors contributing to mental and physical health issues, setting the stage for deeper analysis in future units.
Learning Targets:
- Analyze how and why people's behaviors may change when they are alone compared to when in a group setting.
- Examine how personal expectations, biases, and attitudes influence our interactions and relationships with ourselves and others.
- Investigate whether your actions are driven by personal choices or external rewards, and reflect on the reasons behind what you do.
