KAE_Calculating Kc From Concentrations Lesson

Calculating Kc From Concentrations

Often we are not given the equilibrium concentrations for a reaction. Instead, we are given the initial concentrations. In order to use the equilibrium expression and Kc, we must be able to use these initial concentrations to find the equilibrium concentrations.

Watch this presentation to see how we approach equilibrium problems. The "I C E" method is used in all kinds of problems, so pay special attention to it.

Calculating Concentrations from Kc

Use this presentation to see how to find the concentrations of reactants and products when the equilibrium constant is given.

As you can see, the calculations are fairly complicated for these problems. However, they can be simplified when the value of Kc is very small.   And that's the kind of problems you will be solving.

Remember to work on the module practice problems as you complete each section of content.
