STC_Limiting Reactants Lesson

Limiting Reactants Lesson

Here is a question we did on a previous content page.

What mass of aluminum chloride will be produced from 22.6 grams of zinc chloride?

LaTeX: 2Al+3ZnCl_2\longrightarrow3Zn+2AlCl_32Al+3ZnCl23Zn+2AlCl3

Have you noticed that even though there are two reactants, the stoichiometry we have done so far, like this one, have only mentioned one reactant? Often a problem will say that the other reactant is in excess. Sometimes, like in this one, that is just assumed. But, what do we do if a stoichiometry problem mentions more than one reactant amount? Before we tackle the math, let's look at an example that might mean a little more to you.

Remember to work on the module practice problems as you complete each section of content.
