Civil Rights Leaders

Hello, Students!

Up until this point we have learned about some very important figures during the Civil Rights Movement. Some of those important people are:

  • Rosa Parks
  • Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • John F. Kennedy
  • Lyndon B. Johnson
  • Robert F. Kennedy
  • Oliver Brown
  • Thurgood Marshall
  • Ruby Bridges (we didn’t talk about her, but she’s pretty amazing)

For the next few lessons, you will choose a Civil Rights figure to research. Using what you have learned here as well as what you research, you will create a slideshow about your selected person. Your presentation should include a biography as well as key contributions he/she made towards the Civil Rights Movement. You may look at the rubric for information to include as well as a graphic organizer below

Assignment

Now, you will begin your research.  You will work on this for lessons 15-17 and will upload your presentation in lesson #18. You can download and print both the checklist and graphic organizer. Please use the checklist below to guide your work.
