In this lesson, we will look at how the culture of America was changing in the 1930s.

How did African-American or Black achievements change perceptions?
How did famous African-Americans or Blacks influence others?
How did cultural contributions help to shape the 1930’s?
Culture of the 1930s
Even though times were tough in the 1930s, Americans continued to look towards entertainment and sports to help pass time. Some who had an impact on the culture of the 1930s was musician Duke Ellington, athlete Jesse Owens, and author Margaret Mitchell.
In your journal: Print the notes page and complete it as you go through the slides. If you do not have access to a printer, another option is to draw/write your notes page in your social studies journal.
