Today we are going to embark on a journey just south of America to Cuba! The journey that we will travel will show how at the end of the century, the United States was known worldwide as a powerful nation.

With the Spanish forces defeated, Cuba gained its independence from Spain and the United States purchased the Philippine Islands, Guam, and Puerto Rico for $20 million.
