Lesson 4: Location
Introduction
In this lesson, you will consider how locations- where people live- have an impact. You will examine the
locations in your life and their impact on your personal economy, culture, and development.
Location
View the slideshow below to learn more about how location matters.
Activity
In your journal: Add to the themes from the previous lessons. Write the theme “location” and record the meaning of this theme based on what you just learned from the slideshow.
Activity
Brainstorm a location where you have been to before or have knowledge of, for example - a beach. Then, think of ways that a town on the beach is different from the location where you live.
Now, brainstorm other locations you have been to and determine the differences, and why those differences occur. Draw a graphic organizer in your social studies journal like the one pictured below. Complete the graphic organizer in your journal. This exercise will prepare you for the discussion post that you will complete in lesson #5.
