Introduction 

A firsthand account is written by a person who was at an event or experienced something. A secondhand account is written by a person who was not there but has learned about an event or time period. A firsthand account will use primary sources as he/she was actually present. A secondhand account will use secondary sources as he/she is learning about the event from research.
