Conclusion Practice

In Your Journal: Practice writing a conclusion to an opinion essay using the three R's. You have TWO options, so choose ONE. Should zoos exist? Or, should all Zoos be closed?

 

Here is the writer’s opinion:

Zoos should not exist.

Here is the writer’s opinion:

Zoos should exist.

Here are the writer’s three strong points or reasons:

    1. Zoos can never really replicate, or copy, the animals natural environment. 
    2. Animals don’t always receive the appropriate care in zoos. 
    3. Wild animals may be unhappy in captivity.

 

Here are the writer’s three strong points or reasons:

    1. Zoos increase an animal’s population because they are fed and have veterinarian attention. 
    2. Zoos have educational programs to teach people about the animals.
    3. Animals are placed in safe habitats that protect them.
