Theme

Dramas are developed to bring a story to life. A strong element of drama is the theme. Theme is often the driving force to make a story into a drama as it will hold the attention of the audience. Review the theme anchor chart.

Think back to the drama, The Woman and Her Bear Download The Woman and Her Bear, and what you listed as the theme on the graphic organizer.

In your Journal:

        • List the theme.
        • In a constructed response, discuss why telling a legend from a particular culture as a drama is powerful. How would this be different if this were simply written as a passage and not a drama.
        • Share your answers with a partner or your teacher.
