A drama is a story that has parts for speakers and is acted out in front of a live audience (a group of people watching a performance) Prose is a book, short story, or passage that uses the traditional sentence and paragraph structure.

Reading a Drama

In the drama, Standing Up By Sitting In Download Standing Up By Sitting In, the interactions between the students and members of the community show how segregation negatively influenced society. Historical dramas allow readers to explore different roles or to see an event from various perspectives. Now, read a historical prose piece and be prepared to compare the drama and the prose passage about civil rights.

 

In your Journal:

        • Draw a Venn Diagram to compare the drama and the prose.
        • Write a constructed response using your Venn Diagram to discuss the similarities and differences.
        • Share your response with your teacher or a friend.
