Attributions

One part of paraphrasing that may be challenging for students is step four: REFER. Here’s a list to provide options for text talkers or attributions. Remember, it’s great for writer’s to use a variety of attributions AND move the attribution around in the evidence sentence. For example, try putting the attribution at the beginning, middle, or end of the evidence.

Four Square Graphic Organizer

Now it’s time to move your highlighted evidence about recess into the Four Square graphic organizer. Each body paragraph will follow the PEEL strategy. Don’t forget to paraphrase and add TAPS  (attribution and text talker) to EVERY piece of evidence from the text because it’s NOT from you! Each paragraph should have at least two pieces of evidence. Then, we will elaborate the evidence and add links in our next two lessons.
