Recess
In week 22, you analyzed the following prompt:
You will read two articles about recess. One article supports unstructured recess time or free-play; while the other argues that recess should be structured or planned. After reading both passages, answer the following question:
Should recess be structured or unstructured?
Write an opinion essay using information from both passages to support your answer.
Then, you read two articles, highlighted the evidence given by the author to support each side of the argument: structured or unstructured recess, and decided which opinion you would support.

Categorizing Evidence
Before moving that highlighted evidence into your graphic organizer, you will need to look at all the evidence in the passage and put them into groups or categories. Remember, group the pieces of evidence together by their relationships to each other.
For example, look at some evidence a student has gathered from a source about why zoos are good for animals. Notice how they categorized or grouped the related evidence. Drag and drop the second piece of evidence to the group it belongs in.
Categorizing Your Evidence
Follow this process to group your evidence (use notebook paper if necessary) into three reasons. In the next lesson, you will move the evidence into your graphic organizer.
