Introduction

Commas are used after introductory elements (parts) in a sentence. Introductory elements can be words, clauses, or phrases (groups of words). Introductory elements are added to an independent clause (sentence). A good strategy to find introductory elements is to find the independent clause first. Remember, an independent clause is a complete sentence.
