- Label your journal page: Quick Write #3 Module 1 Descriptive Writing with figurative language
- Read the prompt:
Think of your favorite place to visit. Describe this place to someone who has never seen it. Use similes, metaphors, and an idiom to describe your place. Don’t forget to add sensory details. Sensory details can BE figurative language.
For example, the crowd roared like a lion. It’s a simile, but it’s also a sensory detail of hearing. Wow us with your writing talent! - Think for one minute

Let's Edit:
After writing for fifteen minutes. Read your paragraph to yourself. Think back to the module lesson rubric. Let’s check to make sure that:
✐ each sentence is capitalized and punctuated correctly
✐ the paragraph has a topic sentence, at least three supporting sentences with sensory details, and a concluding sentence
If you need to make changes (revise/edit) to your paragraph, do that now. Good writers always read their work carefully to make sure the writing is clear for readers to understand.
In Your Journal: Once you have finished editing/revising your work. Draw and color a picture of your favorite food at the bottom of your journal page.
