W1D2 Writing
Quick Write #1 for descriptive writing with sensory details:
Let’s talk about what a quick write assignment is like. You will use the lesson(s) in this module to complete Quick Writes in your journal. Always label the page with the following: Quick Write Module ____ and then give the lesson title from the module. For example, the top of your journal page for today should look like this:
Quick Write #1 Module 1 Descriptive Writing with Sensory Details
For each Quick Write, you should write for at least 15 minutes. You may use a timer, and try to write until the timer goes off. You may write longer than 15 minutes if you still have ideas. This builds your writing stamina (the time you can stay focused and actively complete a task). The more you practice building stamina, the easier the task is complete. Each Quick Write will have all the parts of a paragraph: topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding sentence.
Now that we understand Quick Writes and building stamina, let’s get to today’s!

Let's Edit:
After writing for fifteen minutes. Read your paragraph to yourself. Think back to the module lesson rubric. Let’s check to make sure that:
✐ each sentence is capitalized and punctuated correctly
✐ the paragraph has a topic sentence, at least three supporting sentences with sensory details, and a concluding sentence
If you need to make changes (revise/edit) to your paragraph, do that now. Good writers always read their work carefully to make sure the writing is clear for readers to understand.
In Your Journal: Once you have finished editing/revising your work. Draw and color a picture of your favorite food at the bottom of your journal page.
