Lesson 3 - Microorganisms: Fungi

Introduction

Today we’ll discuss another type of organism that can be microorganisms - fungi. Fungi are not animals, plants, or bacteria. Unlike bacteria, which are simple single-celled organisms, fungi can have a complex structure with many cells like animals and plants. Fungi are found all over Earth including on land, in the water, in the air, and even in plants and animals. They vary widely in size from microscopically small to the largest organisms on Earth at several square miles large. Today, we’ll talk about the smallest types of fungi.
