Lesson 6 - Weathering and Erosion

Introduction

Have you ever seen a strong wind blow leaves across your yard? Or have you ever felt the water flow against your legs when standing in a river or at the beach? If so, then you have experienced weathering and erosion. Most people think these two words mean the same thing, but they're actually very different. We will start learning about them both today and their differences.

Weathering and Erosion

In your Science Journal:

    1. Write down today’s Lesson Title at the top of your next Journal page.
    2. Write today’s learning objective on the first line.
    3. Explore the Module 6 - Lesson 6 presentation below. Today, we’ll learn about weathering and erosion.  Weathering is the natural process that causes the rock to break down over time. Erosion is the moving or shifting of those smaller pieces of broken rock by natural forces, such as wind, water, or ice.
    4. Write down the important terms and their definitions and important diagrams (yellow boxes) in your Science Journal.
