Lesson 3 - Organelles: Cytoplasm

Introduction

Today we'll discuss the part of a cell that makes up the cell - cytoplasm.

Directions:

    1. Grab your Science Journal and a pencil.
    2. Write down today’s Lesson Title at the top of your next Journal page.
    3. Write today’s learning objective on the first line.
    4. Watch the Module 2 - Lesson 3 video below.
    5. Write down the important terms and their definitions (yellow boxes) in your Science Journal.
    6. Pause the video as often as you need.

Edible Cell Models

Let’s look again at some of the models we saw yesterday.

Edible Cell Models

Edible models are a fun way to model the parts of a cell. Here the cytoplasm is represented by blue icing that the organelles are floating on.

Cell in a Bag

A cell in a bag is another great way to model a cell. Here the Ziploc bag itself is the cell membrane. The cytoplasm is represented by the water that fills the bag. The organelles (candies) move around in the cytoplasm (water.)

Let's see if you can figure out which items represent the cytoplasm
