Phone (2).png READING

Introduction

We learned that sometimes root words come from Greek or Latin words, but sometimes our phrases and words in English also come from myths! Our reviewing greek myths and remembering the word that was created from the myth.

Why do we need to know this? A lot of literature has allusions in it. This means that the text will refer to another text that many people in society will know and understand. Why do authors do this? It helps them avoid long explanations because they create common connections.

Now, the problem is that as a fairly new reader, you may read this allusions and have no idea what they are alluding, or connecting, to! To help, we have to read a wide variety of topics to better understand the world and have more knowledge to make those connections.

To Do: Read some myths and think about similar stories to relate them to.
